 From My Husband's Heart

I was finally cleaning out my side of the office today and filing things away. I came across this poem he wrote me back in January. I never really read it then because I was too upset. Things were not good. So, I took the time to read it today. And I want to put it here on my blog.

Heart is heavy
Eyes full of tears
Knowing I caused you pain
For all of these years

Body can't relax
Hands are shakin'
Unable to sleep
Because my love has been taken

Mistakes made
Many more than one
A lifetime of repayment
For you and our son

Your words left me breathless
And wanting to cry
If I ever lost you
I know I would die

So past is past
Let's start anew
All the love I have
I have only for you.

 The Slow Dance

You take me by the hand and I go with you
Out onto the floor, with so many others
Your arms encircle me, so carefully
My arms encircle your neck
We gaze into each other's eyes
I feel myself sinking into you
The music is so soft and slow
The words so magical
You pull me closer, my head on your shoulder
I feel your breath, your cheek on my head
Your hand caresses my hair
I close my eyes and feel the tingle
Our bodies so close, so warm
No longer a dance but a slow seduction
You lightly pull my hair, my head tilts back
You cover my mouth with yours
A soft kiss at first, then more demanding
The taste of you makes me weak
Your arm pulls me closer, almost crushing me
I hear the sound of blood rushing in my ears
There is a want to be somewhere private
Horizontal without the clothes
All other dancers have disappeared
My breathing is labored
Then the song ends, you step away
Your arms release me and you leave
I stand there waiting for my senses to return
Patience is not my virtue

 In Just a Blink

If you heard my voice say your name
Would it make you shiver, make you smile
Would the scent of my skin be to blame
For the urge you have to lay on me a while

I want to touch your hair, breathe you in
Kiss your lips and hear you moan
Run my tongue over all your skin,
Let you know you’re not alone

To be the one that you want to hold
I would do anything for you
Let down my guard and be so bold
You would see my love is true

The thoughts of you take my breath away
When you’re near I cannot think
With so many things we need to say
The time is gone in just a blink

 My Charleston Falls

The water sings over the rocks
It hits the wall as it splashes down
Shadows play across the stream
There’s a musty smell of the ground

I close my eyes and listen
Soak in the words of the water song
Feel a peace of mind, relax
I feel welcome here, as if I belong

Thoughts of everyday life
Are nowhere to be found in this place
There is no time, no deadline
Just a cool and unhurried space

With reluctance I will go
But for now I enjoy the feeling
Of no one needing me just yet
That’s what makes this place appealing

 Something About It

It rises like a fog and gathers round your feet
Seeps slowly down inside
Spreads through you like a white hot liquid heat

Twist and turn to shake yourself free
Even if you feel you’ve won
It soon returns and regains entry

Something beckons within your soul
You hear that distant voice
That promises to make you whole

The reflection in the glass looks back
Do you recognize that face?
A shift within reveals the crack

Is this feeling just an old emotion
Coming back to haunt?
A dormant swell of pure revulsion

There’s a beckoning within the heart’s recesses
From that far off yearning soul
To calm your fears as your weaknesses it addresses
