What is normal, what is safe
Is it just a state within the mind

This life is not a total chaos
Each day does not start out in dread
My body works, the sun still shines
Bills get paid, there's a roof overhead

Yet there are the inner workings
The underlying streams not on the charts
Their flow is always interrupted
Causing hurt, tears, and broken hearts

If I could find the magic solution
Remove the obstructions, change the course
Slow the rapids, dam the falls
Even try to lessen the driving force

But I can never try to control
The workings of all the universe
Hang on, don't lose your place
Pray the tide brings nothing worse
